Good Workstation Practices
The following is a brief summary of recommendations that we have for
your work computer:

Rebooting- Your computer should be rebooted daily. If you
have a computer with Windows XP or Vista you should reboot any time
that you feel the computer is running slowly.

Disk Cleanup- Running disk cleanup will get rid of files
that are no longer needed for your computer to run properly. Disk
Cleanup should be run at least once a week. The Disk Cleanup option
can be found be clicking on the Start Button> Programs> Accessories>
System Tools.

Disk Defragmenter- Disk Defragmenter is a tool that rearranges
the data on your hard disk and reunites fragmented files so your
computer can run more efficiently. The Disk Defragmenter option
can be found be clicking on the Start Button> Programs> Accessories>
System Tools.

Software Downloading- You should never download any file
sharing software on a work computer. Programs such as Limewire,
BearShare, and Ares are not safe to have on your work computer it
will open your work computer up to spyware and viruses.

Internet Browsing- Internet use should be kept to a minimum
on work computers. When browsing the internet we suggest using Firefox
with Google Toolbar. Firefox can be downloaded for free at www.firefox.com.

Security- We suggest using CA
Internet Security Suite 2007 to protect your computer from infection
by viruses, spyware, worms, and trojans.
